Whitehaven

Each year Gateley Smithers Purslow staff set themselves a personal challenge; to test themselves both mentally & physically. This year Andy, Chris, Caroline & Paula completed the C2C from Whitehaven to Sunderland by cycling 138 miles. They had the valuable support of Nathan & Richie from start to finish, providing refreshments, encouragement and much needed transport along the way.

The team set off on their cycling adventure in high spirits from Whitehaven on Friday, with all the gear and ALL the idea, heading towards Keswick.

Friday night saw them take refuge at the Two Dogs Inn   in Keswick, where they each literally took a giant leak ……from the local home grown veg fair!

On Saturday morning they set off for Alston, Cumbria, passing the Hartside Summit, with an altitude of 1903 feet, along the way.

After another well earned rest, they set off on Sunday morning, bright & early for Sunderland, South Shields where they would complete their challenge and collapse in a heap; exhausted but elated and extremely proud of what they had accomplished.

They arrived back at our Head Office in Glaston on the Monday afternoon to a tumultuous ‘Well done & welcome back’ with bell ringing, singing & cheers of joy from all Gateley Smithers Purslow staff!
