About us
Glaston Hall

Glaston in rural Rutland, England's smallest county, is an excellent base for the Practice. We have staff based around the country, providing services from Peterhead to Penzance. With easy access to London and the latest communications technology we also work in the Capital without the overheads of a city presence.

We are privileged to have taken over Glaston Hall. This magnificent building, constructed largely in local marlstone with a Collyweston slate roof, was built as a country house for Lady Victoria Carbery in 1895 following the death of her husband, the 8th Lord Carbery, the previous year. Colonel Sir Eric Gore Brown OBE, Chairman of Glyn, Mills & Company (now part of the Royal Bank of Scotland), last Chairman of the Southern Railway and High Sherrif of Rutland from 1957, took over the house from 1932 until his death in 1964. Gore Brown was strongly opposed to railway nationalisation saying "Once eggs are scrambled, I defy any cook to unscramble them." The building became a hotel and subsequently Forbuoys, and then Corporate Services, used it as a training centre.
